It was a warm Autumn day when we met for our September meeting. We had been invited to have tea with Shirley Brown. It was so nice that Kath Darling was well and able to join us and enjoy the chat and afternoon tea. We talked about the forth coming Harvest service. We are delighted that Shirley will be sharing her memories of harvesting the crops on Middlethorp Farm, at our next meeting. It will be interesting to hear about the change in methods of harvesting the crops.
We are meeting in the home of Iris the second Wednesday in October. If you would like to hear Shirley’s talk do come and join us.
Our Parish Share is £24,070. We have paid to date £20,500.

To ensure we reach this figure we are holding two Raffles in addition to our Christmas Fair. We are making our usual requests for any items for the Tombola stall or Raffle prizes. Please talk to Shirley or Anne, or leave them at the back of church during October early November.

It has been the tradition over a number of years to send gifts to the local mission for Seafarers. Every Sunday evening, Ian Lightfoot goes to this mission, and would be delighted to take any gifts you wish to send. There will be a suggestions list at the back of church or chat to Ian.
Our Christingle Service in December, will support the work of the Children’s Society. Their work is not only with families experiencing difficulties, but also out on the streets with the youngsters who are homeless and without hope.

During our service in September we celebrated a successful Harvest. We would like to thank the children who acted the characters of the little Red Hen, the Cat, the Pig and the Rat. At the conclusion of the story none of the children thought the Red Hen needed to share as no other animal was prepared to help!!
In October the theme of our Service will be Light and Jesus as the “Light of the World”. If you have not yet come to our very relaxed family service join us on 21st October at 4 pm.
